Location: Chessington or Islington Office (depending on proximity)

Salary: £47,500 – £55,000

Additional Earnings: Bonus up to £2,000 + Commission up to £5,000

Working Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5:30pm | Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm

Flexibility: Flexi-time available with possible remote working options

Overview

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Technical Manager to join our growing live events and exhibitions team. This is a senior-level position suited to someone with a strong technical background across audio, video, lighting, and LED systems, combined with excellent operational and leadership skills. The role will involve overseeing the technical and operational delivery of a wide range of exhibitions and live events, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and leading large freelance technical teams across complex event environments. You will play a key role in project planning, crew management, technical delivery, health & safety compliance, and supporting business growth through client-facing involvement and technical consultation. This is a hands-on position for someone who is equally comfortable leading from the front on-site as they are planning behind the scenes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate large freelance technical teams, ensuring all operational, safety, and production-critical briefings are delivered before setup and live operations.
  • Plan and manage crew logistics including technical crew, local crew, vehicles, scheduling, and project resource allocation across multiple live projects.
  • Oversee technical, scenic, LED, and rigging installations from setup through to safe derig and removal.
  • Produce technical schematics, cable calls, floor plans, and relevant health & safety documentation for live events and exhibitions.
  • Train, mentor, and develop internal team members, including creating structured training plans and supporting technical progression.
  • Work closely with account managers, sales teams, and other departments to advise on complex technical solutions and support new business opportunities.
  • Manage event budgets, project timelines, and on-site technical delivery while maintaining exceptional client and operational standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of live event health & safety regulations and procedures
  • Excellent technical knowledge across audio, video, lighting, rigging, and power systems
  • Experience configuring and working with LED video wall systems
  • Understanding of lighting design principles and illumination calculations
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience working with LED video walls
  • Previous experience within live events and technical project management environments
  • Ability to confidently lead crews and troubleshoot technical issues on-site

Preferred Qualifications

  • AutoCAD experience (2+ years preferred)
  • Experience producing technical drawings and event schematics
  • Exposure to exhibitions, corporate events, and large-scale live productions
