About the Role We are seeking an experienced Protection & Control Engineer to join our engineering team and support the delivery of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and commissioning of protection and control systems, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of energy storage assets.

This role offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, collaborating with internal engineering teams, utilities, EPC contractors, and grid operators to deliver high-quality protection and automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities Design and implement protection and control (P&C) schemes for BESS and grid-connected energy projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Develop and review relay settings, protection philosophies, and coordination studies for energy storage and renewable energy systems.

Perform power system modelling, analysis, and fault studies using tools such as ETAP, PSCAD, DIg SILENT Power Factory, Aspen, or CYME.

Configure, test, and commission: Protective relays SCADA systems RTUs, HMIs, and PLC-based control systems Industrial communication networks Apply industry communication protocols including IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, and other automation standards.

Develop and support: Conduct fault investigations and root cause analysis, providing technical solutions for BESS system issues.

Collaborate with engineering, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Coordinate with external stakeholders including utilities, system operators, and EPC contractors.

Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements relating to BESS protection and control.

Qualifications & Experience The ideal candidate will have: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.5+ years' experience in protection and control engineering, ideally within power systems, renewable energy, or battery energy storage.

Hands-on experience with protection relay platforms including: SELABBSiemens GESchneider Experience developing relay settings and protection coordination studies.

Proficiency with power system analysis software such as: ETAPPSCADDIg SILENT Power Factory PSS/EStrong understanding of grid codes, IEEE, IEC, NERC requirements, and utility interconnection standards.

Familiarity with SCADA systems, RTU
