Location: Midlands / Birmingham preferred – UK-wide territory

Salary: Competitive, DOE + Bonus + Company Car

We are working with an established and growing specialist distributor of food processing machinery, supplying leading equipment solutions into the meat, fish and poultry processing sectors. They are now looking for an experienced Technical Sales Manager to join the team and take responsibility for developing new business and managing key customer accounts across the UK.

This is a genuine technical and consultative sales role, working with some of the UK's leading food manufacturers and engaging directly with Engineering Managers, Technical Managers, Production teams, Procurement and senior management.

The Role

  • Developing new business opportunities across the UK
  • Managing and growing existing blue-chip customer accounts
  • Selling high-value capital equipment and machinery solutions
  • Understanding customer processes and identifying equipment requirements
  • Working with engineering and technical teams to specify the correct machinery
  • Managing projects with values of up to 3 million
  • Managing complex sales cycles, which can extend to 2 years or more
  • Building long-term relationships with major food manufacturers
  • Representing a broad range of leading international food processing machinery brands

The machinery portfolio includes stuffing, clipping, pressing & forming, cutting and other food processing equipment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven technical sales experience within food processing machinery
  • Experience selling into the meat, fish, poultry or wider food manufacturing sectors
  • A strong understanding of food production processes and machinery
  • Experience selling to blue-chip / major food manufacturing businesses
  • The ability to confidently discuss technical requirements with engineers and technical decision-makers
  • A proven track record in new business development and account management
  • Experience selling high-value capital equipment
  • Strong commercial, negotiation and communication skills
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively

You don't need experience with every type of machine in the portfolio, but food processing machinery experience is essential.

Location & Package

The role covers the whole of the UK, with regular customer visits and some overnight travel. Birmingham / Midlands is preferred due to the central UK territory, but location is flexible for the right candidate who is happy to travel.
