Salary: £34,000 – £35,000

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm

Overview

We are looking for an organised, proactive, and technically knowledgeable AV Department Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day operation of our Audio and Vision departments. This is a leadership‑focused role responsible for ensuring equipment preparation, resource planning, team coordination, and departmental processes are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards. Working closely with the Warehouse Manager, Operations Team, and Project Managers, you will play a key role in maintaining operational excellence and ensuring equipment is prepared, tested, and ready for successful event delivery. Leading a team of engineers, prep technicians, and a departmental supervisor, you will drive productivity, quality control, and effective communication across the business while maintaining a safe, organised, and high‑performing working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operation of the Audio and Vision departments, ensuring workloads are planned, prioritised, and delivered efficiently
  • Lead, coordinate, and support a team of 11 staff, including engineers, prep technicians, and a team supervisor, through regular briefings and task delegation
  • Oversee the preparation, de‑preparation, testing, and turnaround of AV equipment, ensuring all work meets company quality standards
  • Coordinate equipment allocation, dry hire check‑ins, quarantine processes, inspections, and radio frequency management
  • Work closely with Operations, Project Management, and Warehouse teams to maximise efficiency, resource utilisation, and project readiness
  • Maintain departmental organisation, stock control, consumables management, and compliance with health and safety procedures
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring deadlines, quality standards, and operational objectives are consistently achieved

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong leadership and team management experience within an AV, technical production, rental, or warehouse environment
  • In‑depth technical knowledge of audio and vision equipment
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and workload management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and manage changing operational demands
  • Effective problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • High level of self‑motivation with a proactive and hands‑on approach
  • Strong IT skills
  • PAT Testing knowledge
  • Experience using Shure Wireless Workbench and PMSE systems

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience managing AV preparation, rental, or technical warehouse operations
  • Experience coordinating large equipment inventories and turnaround schedules
  • Knowledge of live events, technical production, or equipment hire environments
