My client has over 25 years of experience in the hydraulic engineering sector, delivering turnkey solutions including design, overhaul, manufacture, installation, and commissioning services across a wide variety of sectors including industrial, manufacturing, marine, construction and MOD to name a few. Due to an extended period of growth, they are now looking for a machinist to join their team within the workshop.
£15–£17 per hour (£31,200 - £35,300 per year). Overtime and 2.0 on Sundays. 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing throughout time served, company pension. Monday to Friday working 40 hours (8am – 4.30pm).
- Operate machining equipment including Colchester lathes and milling machines.
- Machine precision components such as piston rods and bushes from samples or engineering drawings.
- Read and interpret engineering and machine drawings accurately.
- Strip down and assess hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
- Compile job sheets and technical reports for pricing and workshop records.
- Work to delivery deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate effectively with workshop team members.
Requirements:
- Hands-on engineering or machine shop experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills.
- Understanding of mechanical fabrication and machining techniques.
- HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
