My client is a world-renowned packaging company and is a leading provider of corrugated packaging within the UK. They are seeking a Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer to work with a strong team of maintenance engineers. As part of the team, you will provide planned and reactive maintenance of production lines and plant equipment.
Salary: £47,000 - £57,000
Location: Northampton
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off – (6AM – 6PM) & (6PM-6AM) repeated for 7 sets followed by 18 days off.
Our client is offering a salary reflecting experience with the potential to earn more through overtime, training & development, EAP scheme, onsite mental health and well-being support, and private pension.
Responsibilities include:
- Reading mechanical drawings and diagrams to carry out fault finding, repairs, and installations.
- Leading and servicing machinery equipment & assets.
- Working on mechanical issues including pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes, and conveyors.
- Carrying out alignment, stripping, rebuilding, and installation of mechanical components.
- Commissioning of new machinery, breakdowns, service & installation.
- Basic electrical fault finding and isolation where required.
- Understanding and working safely on production machinery including high-speed equipment.
Essential:
- Strong customer service skills.
- Comfortable with big machinery.
- Experience in packaging, FMCG, industrial or another manufacturing industry.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance experience.
- Good understanding of pneumatics and/or hydraulics.
- Basic electrical knowledge (motors, sensors, fault finding) would be advantageous.
- A strong mechanical background with some electrical experience.
- A related qualification in mechanical engineering or similar.
- A HNC, HND, Level 3 or a 1–2-year City & Guilds qualification is also welcome.
