Job Description
Position – HVAC Engineer
Location – Preston, to work the Northwest
Starting Salary/Package – £38,000 – £43,000, Van/Fuel Card, Death in Service, OT available, 32 days holiday inc banks, & more
Client
A fast-growing building and facilities maintenance contractor, located in the Preston area. Providing electrical, mechanical, and building services to commercial and public sector clients across the UK, with a strong reputation in the Mental Health/Healthcare sector.
Purpose of the Role
To install, service, maintain, and repair HVAC systems (including air conditioning, ventilation, and commercial heating units) across a variety of commercial and public sector sites, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment, including:
- Split & multi-split AC units
- VRV/VRF systems
- AHUs, FCUs, ventilation/extraction systems
- Commercial gas boilers and heating systems (if qualified)
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in HVAC systems
- Carry out PPMs and respond to reactive callouts
- Complete commissioning and installation of new HVAC systems
- Ensure compliance with F-Gas regulations and relevant health & safety standards
- Maintain accurate service reports, job records, and digital logs
- Collaborate with other trades
- Provide excellent customer service to clients on-site
- Uphold professionalism, safety, and quality workmanship
You must have or Hold
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or equivalent
- F-Gas (Category 1) certified – mandatory
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in HVAC maintenance and repair
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Commercial gas qualifications (COCN1, CIGA1, etc.) (Desirable)
