An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Applications Engineer to join the EDM team working with industry-leading Makino EDM machines.
Role Overview
This role combines technical engineering support with customer interaction, supporting both the pre-sales and post-sales process. You will work closely with the sales team and customers to demonstrate machining capabilities, develop machining strategies, and deliver customer training. The role is ideal for someone with hands-on EDM machining experience who enjoys problem solving, working with customers, and travelling across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Sales Team with Technical proposals
- Generation of Time Studies for customer's components
- Development of Test Cuts and Standard Machine Demonstrations within the showroom
- Demonstrations and Presentations at Trade shows and Exhibitions
- Delivery of the Turnkey Engineering package that accompanies the Machine Tool sale
- Planning of Machining Strategy, CNC programming, attaining Acceptance
- Responsible for Customer Training with respect to Machine Operation, Programming & Preventative daily maintenance
- Selection of tools and work holding, optimising the process parameters for customer parts
Must-have requirements
- Experience with at least two EDM processes (Wire, Sink, or Fast Hole Drilling)
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Experience with CNC programming (CAD/CAM knowledge desirable)
- Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable working in a customer-facing role and presenting technical information
- Willingness to travel across the UK as part of the role
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new technology and processes
- Full UK driving licence
