We are currently recruiting for an experienced Production Manager to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Blackburn. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of site production operations and play a key role in driving efficiency, performance, and team development.
The Role
As Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets are achieved safely and efficiently. You will work closely with internal teams to coordinate production schedules, manage resources, and maintain a consistent workflow across the site. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving and leading from the front.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and manage daily and weekly production activities
- Ensure materials and resources are in place to meet production demands
- Monitor output and resolve production or capacity issues
- Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture
- Maintain accurate production records and KPIs
- Support stock control and work-in-progress tracking
- Identify and implement process improvements
- Manage, coach, and develop the production team
- Handle attendance, performance, and employee relations matters
- Support quality control and investigate production issues
Requirements
- Proven experience in a production or manufacturing environment
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Confident leadership and communication ability
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production planning systems
- Experience handling people-related matters in line with HR processes
Desirable:
- Experience in timber, sawmilling, or heavy manufacturing
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
Salary & Benefits
- £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

- Monday to Thursday: 8:15am - 5:00pm
