We are recruiting for a Sales Engineer to join a leading distributor of food processing capital equipment. This role focuses on selling machinery such as skinners, derinders, slicing and portioning equipment, and other specialist food processing machinery. You will be responsible for managing an established customer base across the Midlands South territory, primarily serving boning halls and abattoirs. While the role is largely account management-focused, we are looking for a proactive individual who can identify new opportunities within existing accounts.
Typical machine values range from £20,000 to £200,000, with a realistic territory sales target of £1 million, expected to be fully achieved by year two.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and grow relationships with existing customers across the Midlands South
- Identify new sales opportunities within current accounts
- Provide technical solutions tailored to customer requirements
- Promote and sell a range of capital equipment for food processing
- Deliver professional demonstrations and technical advice
- Work closely with customers to maximise equipment investment and long-term partnerships
We are open to candidates from one of the following backgrounds:
- Proven experience selling capital equipment, ideally within the food processing or meat industry
- Engineering background within the food industry, with experience in service, applications, or internal sales, looking to move into a field-based capital equipment sales role
The ideal candidate will:
- Have strong commercial awareness
- Be technically minded with the ability to offer engineered solutions
- Be confident building long-term customer relationships
- Have the ability to identify opportunities and maximise customer spend
- Hold a full UK driving licence
£40,000-£50,000 basic salary, uncapped commission (10-20%), company vehicle, 25 days annual leave, established customer base, long-term career development opportunities.
