Position: Pipe Fitter Department: Mechanical Services / Construction Location: Preston, Regional to the Northwest Salary / Package: £38,000 – £45,000 (DOE), Van/Fuel Card, PPE/Tools, Regional work to the Northwest, 22 days hols +Banks, OT available Purpose of the role To install, assemble, maintain, and repair piping systems used in commercial buildings, ensuring all work meets Company quality, safety, and compliance standards. Have you worked with Oxy-acetylene Welding? Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures. Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes using appropriate tools and equipment. Install and assemble piping systems, including heating, cooling, water supply, drainage, and gas distribution systems. Secure pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures using brackets, clamps, and welding equipment as required. Conduct pressure and leak testing of installed systems to ensure integrity and performance. Collaborate with other trades (e.g., electricians, HVAC technicians, welders) to ensure smooth workflow on-site. Adhere strictly to Company health and safety procedures and all relevant building codes and standards. Maintain tools, materials, and equipment in safe, serviceable condition. Complete required documentation, including daily work reports and time sheets. Assist in mentoring apprentices and ensuring adherence to company workmanship standards. Qualifications & Experience NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Mechanical Engineering Services (Plumbing or Pipefitting) or NVQ Level 3 in Heating and Ventilating: Industrial and Commercial Installation Proven experience/extensive (3+ years) as a commercial pipe fitter on medium to large-scale projects. Strong knowledge of pipe materials (steel, copper, PVC, PEX) and joining techniques (threading, welding, soldering, etc.). Must have experience with Commercial & Industrial sites Desirable – CSCS Card, Welding Certification, & SSSTS. Full understanding of mechanical and building services systems.
