An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Designer to join a well-established and growing specialist contractor based in Paddock Wood, Kent. The business operates across two specialist divisions under one roof: Industrial Roofing & Cladding and Rainscreen Façades, delivering both refurbishment and new-build projects across the UK.

With a turnover of approximately £10m–£15m, the company delivers projects ranging from £10k to several million pounds across roofing and cladding, while its rainscreen façade division undertakes projects typically ranging from £250k to £8m.

The Role

Once a project has been secured, you will take ownership of the design process from start to finish, ensuring the project is fully designed, coordinated and ready for delivery. Working closely with the Design Manager, alongside the wider design and project teams, you will be responsible for developing practical and technically accurate design solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing detailed drawings for roofing, cladding and/or rainscreen façade projects.
  • Developing elevations, sections, junction details and setting-out information.
  • Reviewing project information and identifying design requirements and interfaces.
  • Carrying out site surveys where required.
  • Coordinating with project teams, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Supporting technical approvals, submittals and RFIs.
  • Scheduling the materials required to deliver each project.
  • Resolving design and coordination issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensuring designs comply with relevant regulations, fire safety requirements and project specifications.

Who They’re Looking For

Ideally, the business would like a Designer with experience across both industrial roofing/cladding and rainscreen façades. However, they are very open to considering someone who has strong experience in either discipline, depending on their background and overall technical ability.

You will ideally have:

  • 3+ years' relevant design experience.
  • Experience within industrial roofing, cladding and/or rainscreen façades.
  • Strong technical drawing and detailing ability.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Good knowledge of façade/roofing systems, fixings and interfaces.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

The Package:

£40,000 – £50,000, depending on experience. Annual bonus based on company performance. Company pension. Free/on-site parking. 8am–5pm, Monday to Friday. Full-time position preferred, with hybrid working potentially available depending on experience. Casual dress code. Paddock Wood, Kent office.

Why Join?

This is a great opportunity to join a knowledgeable and supportive design team where you will have genuine ownership of projects rather than being responsible for just one stage of the design process. If you’re an experienced Roofing, Cladding or Façade Designer looking for a role where you can take ownership of projects from design through to delivery, we’d like to hear from you.
