The Role
You will work closely with operational and senior leadership teams to maximise commercial opportunity and minimise contractual risk across live projects. The role requires strong JCT contract knowledge, hands-on commercial leadership, and the ability to support project teams through complex contractual challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial and contractual leadership across live projects
- Advise project teams on JCT contracts, variations, claims, and risk management
- Support the preparation and management of compensation events, claims, and early warnings where applicable
- Monitor commercial performance, identifying risks and opportunities
- Support monthly forecasting and commercial reporting to senior leadership
- Engage directly with clients and attend senior commercial meetings
- Provide commercial input during tender stages, including contract reviews and risk assessments
- Drive best practice and continuous improvement across commercial processes
About You
- Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Commercial role within civil engineering or construction
- Strong JCT contract experience essential
- Commercially astute with a contract-led mindset, not finance-heavy
- Experience working on complex infrastructure or specialist contracting projects
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders, clients, and operational teams
- Able to travel nationally as required
- Full UK driving licence
