Façade Designer
Location: Remote / 2+ office visits per month in Stockport
Salary: £55,000–£65,000 DOE + Bonus scheme
The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Façade Designer looking for the opportunity to join a growing specialist contractor and the chance to take ownership of projects from design through to production?
We are working with a well-established and expanding façade business with a turnover of approximately £20–£23 million, delivering projects across the UK with an exciting pipeline of upcoming work.
Typical projects valued at £3–£4 million, this is an excellent opportunity for a Designer who wants to work on substantial projects while having genuine responsibility.
The Role
As a Façade Designer, you will take responsibility for seeing projects through from becoming live, through design development, and ultimately to procurement and production.
Working closely with the Contracts Manager and Design Engineer, you will produce accurate, buildable and commercially effective façade designs while responding to client requirements and project changes.
You'll have the opportunity to use your technical knowledge to develop solutions, identify efficiencies and contribute to value engineering across projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing construction and fabrication stage drawings
- Developing accurate 2D and 3D designs
- Working from architectural drawings and project specifications
- Producing accurate Bills of Materials (BoM)
- Preparing site and fixing lists
- Supporting design coordination and resolving clashes
- Ensuring designs are safe, compliant and practical to install
- Working closely with procurement, production and site teams
- Identifying opportunities for value engineering and improved design solutions
- Taking ownership of your projects and meeting agreed design programmes
What They're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced designer with a strong background in aluminium façade design who understands not just how to draw a system, but how it goes together and ultimately gets installed on site.
You’ll ideally have:
- 3+ years' experience in a similar façade design position
- Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD 2D & 3D and Autodesk Inventor
- Ability to confidently read and interpret architectural drawings
- Good understanding of construction detailing and buildability
- Understanding of BIM project delivery
- Revit experience would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and design accuracy
- The ability to work independently and manage deadlines
