An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Huddersfield. Our client is seeking a practical and proactive engineer with strong troubleshooting abilities and a passion for solving technical challenges. The successful candidate will possess a strong mechanical background, experience working with workshop machinery, and the ability to support both mechanical and basic electrical maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults and equipment breakdowns.
  • Carry out hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Operate workshop machinery including lathes and pillar drills.
  • Perform fabrication, repair, and modification work where required.
  • Undertake soldering and welding tasks to support engineering and maintenance activities.
  • Carry out basic electrical fault-finding and repair work.
  • Assist with machinery installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support production operations by minimising downtime and improving equipment reliability.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company and industry standards.

  • Proven experience within a mechanical engineering, maintenance engineering, or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience operating lathes and pillar drills.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting abilities.
  • Basic electrical skills and fault-finding experience.
  • Soldering and welding experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
