Responsibilities
As a Field Service Engineer, you will:
- Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a range of heavy plant machinery, including excavators and loading shovels.
- Provide exceptional customer service while working on-site at client locations across Oxford, Cambridge, and surrounding areas.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues efficiently.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
- Collaborate with the technical support team to address complex issues.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and company standards at all times.
Qualifications To excel in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer, preferably working with heavy plant machinery.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- A relevant engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- A full UK driving license.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own schedule effectively.
Day-to-Day Your typical day will include:
- Traveling to client sites across the Oxford and Cambridge regions, with door-to-door pay.
- Diagnosing and repairing machinery to minimize downtime for clients.
- Performing scheduled maintenance and inspections.
- Utilizing a fully equipped company van for work and personal use.
- Keeping detailed records of all work completed.
- Participating in ongoing training to stay updated on the latest technologies and equipment.
