Responsibilities
- Technical design and specification of RF circuitry for radio terminal products.
- Complete subsystem design and implementation.
- Integration with Baseband, Audio and MMI subsystems.
- Component specification and sourcing.
- Design test documentation.
- Schematic creation and PCB layout supervision.
- Technical requirements analysis.
- Resolutions of design and integration issues.
- Type approval support.
Day to Day

We have developed comprehensive TETRA and LTE solutions tailored for users across multiple sectors to address their critical communication needs. At Sepura, no two days are the same. You will receive support from your manager and team, and collaborate with different departments throughout the company.
Technical engineering responsibilities
- Designing and developing RF systems at the component level.
- Conducting performance tests and optimizations to meet specified performance criteria.
- Leading integration and prototyping efforts to ensure seamless integration of sub-systems with larger systems or components.
- Collaborating with baseband, software, and audio teams to incorporate RF solutions into broader projects.
- Creating detailed technical documentation, including design reports, test plans, and performance assessments.
This role may require some UK and international travel, so the successful candidate will need a full, clean driving license and their own car, and valid passport. Travel expenses will be covered.
What you need to succeed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in RF design and development, ideally within the telecommunications or critical communications industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of RF systems and technologies, including design, simulation, and testing.
- Proven hands-on design experience.
- Strong time management and communication skills, with a history of delivering projects or tasks on time and with high quality.
Experience and Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Significant experience at design level in at least three of the following areas (listed in order of relevance):
- RF Power Amplifiers
- RF Transmitters
- RF Receivers
- Frequency Generators
- Matching networks
- EMC/EMI
- Broadband communications
- LTE/4G/5G
- Component selection
- Simulation tools and modelling such as ADS and/or CST
- Testing procedures, protocols, and facilities like anechoic chambers and screening rooms
- Strong experience in at least two of the following technologies:
- TETRA - 100-900 MHz
- LTE/4G/5G - 700-2700 MHz
- GSM - 800/900/1800 MHz
- GNSS - 1.6-2 GHz
- WiFi - 2.4-6GHz
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with the team and collaborate with other departments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively assign both internal and external resources.
- Excellent hands-on experience handling sensitive PCBs and performing component level activities such as rework and/or modifications.
Nice to have:
- Experience with professional mobile radio (PMR) systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance in the telecommunications industry.
- Knowledge of advanced RF technologies, such as beamforming or MIMO.
- Proficiency in additional programming languages relevant to RF design and testing.
