We are seeking a Repair Fault Finding Engineer to play a key role within the Sepura Repair Centre. The Fault Finding Engineer position is a key part of Sepura’s Repairs team and expected to undertake repairs of customer returns and provide advanced diagnostic capability to support the resolution of complex and novel faults. You will have a background in working in a Repair/Service environment and experience in keeping on top of the demands of working in a busy Repair Centre. Role

  • Undertake repairs of customer equipment including advanced fault finding at component and system level using schematics, test equipment, and analytical techniques.
  • Diagnose complex, intermittent, and non-standard faults not resolvable through standard repair processes.
  • Support and guide the wider team in fault diagnosis and repair techniques.
  • Develop, refine, and maintain technical repair procedures and diagnostic methods.
  • Support procurement, setup, and optimisation of specialist repair equipment, including BGA rework systems.
  • Define and document rework processes, including work instructions for advanced repair activities.
  • Liaise with Product Development teams to provide feedback from product performance to support enhancements.
  • Support technical reviews, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement activities.
  • Deliver training and knowledge transfer to internal and external staff.
  • Support maintenance and calibration of test equipment within the repair environment.
  • Escalate technical risks and improvement opportunities to management.

Day to Day / Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed diagnostic analysis and repairs on returned customer equipment.
  • Validate repairs through appropriate test and verification methodologies.
  • Investigate and document novel faults, including root cause identification.
  • Define approaches to repairs for complex failure modes.
  • Support implementation of engineering changes and product modifications.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams.
  • Maintain technical documentation, fault databases, and repair records.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, and Health & Safety requirements.

Due to the nature of the services delivered by the team, this role requires candidates to be UK SC cleared.

What you need to succeed

Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience in Electronics Engineering or a related field.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Strong experience in electronics fault finding to component level.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, circuit diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Advanced use of diagnostic equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, multi-meters).
  • Experience in diagnosing complex, intermittent, or novel faults.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to define and improve technical processes and repair methodologies.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring technical staff.
  • High level of attention to detail and structured fault analysis approach.

Desirable Experience and Skills

  • Experience with BGA rework and advanced PCB repair techniques.
  • Experience specifying, procuring, or setting up specialist repair equipment.
  • Knowledge of RF, TETRA, or LTE technologies.
  • Experience contributing to design-for-repair or engineering feedback loops.
  • Familiarity with ERP and repair tracking systems (e.g. Dynamics 365).
  • IPC certification (e.g. IPC-7711/7721 or equivalent).
