We are on the lookout for a RF Team Leader to play a key role within the Research and Development team. As a RF Team Leader you will have responsibility for the management of the RF Electronics Development Team as well as contributing to development projects as a RF Design Engineer. The right candidate will have a proven track record of RF electronics design, experience of leadership and/or mentoring a technical team, enjoy problem solving and be an excellent communicator.

Role:
- Team Leadership & People Development
- Lead and support a team of RF design engineers by:
- Allocating resources effectively in line with agreed priorities
- Providing strong technical leadership within the RF discipline
- Offering guidance and ensuring effective mentoring for junior team members
- Conducting performance management and personal development reviews
- Reinforcing established processes and contributing to the development of engineering standards
- Technical Design & Delivery
- Lead the technical design and specification of baseband circuitry for radio terminal products, including:
- End to end subsystem design and implementation
- Integration with Baseband, Audio, and MMI subsystems
- Component specification, evaluation, and sourcing
- Creation of design test documentation
- Schematic design and supervision of PCB layout
- Systems & Project Responsibilities
- Analyse technical requirements and translate them into robust engineering solutions
- Resolve design and integration issues across multiple subsystems
- Support type approval activities throughout certification processes
- Provide technical assistance to end customers when required
- Deliver regular progress updates and reports to senior stakeholders

As part of your role, you will be involved in a variety of technical and project‑oriented activities, including:
- Participating in regular project meetings to review progress, set priorities, and address emerging challenges
- Leading and contributing to design reviews, ensuring RF systems meet performance expectations and regulatory standards
- Collaborating with baseband, software, and audio teams to integrate RF solutions into broader product architectures
- Supporting and guiding mentors as they assist junior engineers on technical topics
- Engaging in project management activities, including updating timelines, managing resources, and communicating with stakeholders to ensure milestones are met
This job involves some travelling so the successful applicant will have a full, clean driving licence, own car, and valid passport. Travel expenses will be paid.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
- Significant experience in RF design and development, ideally in telecommunications or critical communications
- Strong understanding of RF systems and technologies, including design, simulation, and test methodologies
- Proven hands‑on design experience and practical engineering intuition
- Excellent communication and time‑management skills, with a track record of delivering high‑quality work on schedule

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate both internal and external resources
- Excellent practical skills with sensitive PCBs, including component‑level rework or modifications
- Nice to have:
- Experience with professional mobile radio (PMR) systems
- Familiarity with telecom regulatory standards and compliance processes
- Knowledge of advanced RF technologies such as beamforming or MIMO
- Proficiency in relevant programming or scripting languages for RF design and testing
