We are on the lookout for a RF Team Leader to play a key role within the Research and Development team.
Sepura develops Mission Critical TETRA/LTE radios (sub 6GHz)/Cellular/BT/Wi Fi/GNSS/NFC).
We create designs from market requirements to customer delivery in Cambridge UK and manufacture in Europe; delivering the right solutions to our worldwide customers.
They include police, fire and ambulance services across the world as well as critical mining and industrial customers.
We are global leaders in the design, development and supply of innovative communications solutions in multiple market segments including emergency services.
We are immersed in the transition from TETRA to LTE ESN services and developing challenging/complex radios (vehicle based and handheld devices with a vast array of support accessories) to support our customers.
We are seeking an experienced RF engineer to play a pivotal role in leading/mentoring the RF team and developing innovative products, leveraging their expertise in RF systems/electronics design.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in RF product design, experience of leadership and/or mentoring a technical team, enjoy problem-solving, and be an excellent communicator.

Your Main Responsibilities will include
- Team Leadership & People Development
- Allocating resources effectively in line with agreed priorities
- Providing strong technical leadership within the RF discipline
- Offering guidance and ensuring effective mentoring for junior team members
- Conducting performance management and personal development reviews
- Reinforcing/improving established department processes and contributing to the development of engineering standards
- Technical Design & Delivery
- End to end subsystem design and implementation
- Integration with RF system (Fgen/RX/TX) and baseband/audio/MMI platform
- Component specification, evaluation, and sourcing
- Creation of design test documentation
- Schematic design and supervision of PCB layout
- Systems & Project Responsibilities
- Analyse technical requirements and translate them into robust engineering solution/product architectures
- Resolve design and integration issues across multiple subsystems
- Support type approval activities throughout certification processes
- Provide technical assistance to end customers when required
- Deliver regular progress updates and reports to senior stakeholders
- Support the ongoing supply of existing product delivery
This role may require some travel, so the successful candidate will need a full, clean driving license, own car and valid passport. Travel expenses will be covered.
What you need to succeed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
Experience and Skills
- Significant experience in RF design (including discrete design) and development, ideally in telecommunications or critical communications
- Strong understanding of RF systems and technologies, including design, simulation, test methodologies and conformance
- Strong proven hands-on design experience and practical engineering intuition
- Excellent communication and time-management skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality work on schedule
- Ability to maintain excellent interdepartmental links to ensure efficient product delivery
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Proven mentoring and leadership of team members.
