An exciting contract opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to support the delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects across the Water sector, with additional opportunities to work on Industrial, Chemical, Power and Nuclear projects. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with three days per week based in either Manchester, Chester or Leeds.
As a Senior EC&I Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality design solutions within multidisciplinary project teams. You will take ownership of technical deliverables, support project delivery, engage with clients and provide guidance to junior engineers where required.
Your responsibilities will include producing EC&I design documentation such as Control Philosophies, Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Cable Block Diagrams (CBDs), schedules, loop drawings and cable calculations. You will coordinate and manage EC&I design activities, support multidisciplinary project delivery, work closely with clients and key stakeholders, ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, review technical documentation and design outputs, and mentor junior engineers and graduates.
To be considered for this opportunity, you should be degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline and ideally hold Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or be working towards Chartership through a recognised professional body such as the IET. You will have a minimum of five years' experience within an engineering design environment and a proven track record of delivering EC&I design solutions within the Water sector. Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering projects is essential, along with strong design management and project delivery capabilities.
Applicants should have experience producing key EC&I deliverables including Functional Design Specifications, Single Line Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams, loop drawings and cable calculations. Working knowledge of Trimble ProDesign and AutoCAD is required, together with proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience in High Voltage (HV) design, ATEX, SIL design, or projects within the Industrial, Chemical, Power or Nuclear sectors would be highly advantageous.
You will be a client-focused engineer with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team and will have experience supporting and mentoring junior engineers. The successful candidate will be organised, adaptable and capable of managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term contract assignment working on major infrastructure and water industry projects. You will work alongside highly experienced engineering professionals, gain exposure to technically challenging programmes and benefit from a flexible hybrid working arrangement.
If you are an experienced Senior EC&I Engineer seeking your next contract opportunity and have a strong background in engineering design within the Water sector, we would be keen to hear from you.
