SEO Dons is a fast-growing UK SEO agency. We rank solar and renewable energy installers above competitors with 10x their review count — through smart technical SEO, programmatic location pages, and a network of exact-match-domain (EMD) lead-generation sites. We're scaling fast and need a developer who can build and deploy SEO-optimised websites at speed using AI tooling.
The Role
You'll build and maintain client websites and our own EMD portfolio. The twist: you'll work with AI tools (primarily Claude Code) to write, edit, and deploy code — not by hand from scratch. We need someone who understands how to direct an AI coding assistant effectively, review its output, and ship clean, fast, crawlable sites. This is roughly:
- 60% building & editing websites (Astro static sites, location pages, on-page SEO)
- 25% directing Claude Code / AI tools to generate site builds and content frameworks
- 15% technical SEO implementation and fixes
What You'll Do
- Build static websites using Astro SSG + Tailwind CSS, deployed via Netlify (we deploy through the Netlify API/CLI)
- Use Claude Code to scaffold sites, write components, and automate repetitive build tasks — then review and correct its output
- Create programmatic location pages at scale (2,500+ words each, unique local content — never template-swapping town names)
- Implement on-page SEO: meta tags, header structure, internal linking, schema markup (LocalBusiness, FAQ, Review schema)
- Migrate older sites and fix technical issues (e.g. ensuring crawlers see fully rendered HTML, fixing redirects, adding security headers)
- Manage DNS records and domain setup
- Use SEO data tools (DataForSEO, Google Search Console) to inform builds
Must-Have Skills
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code (or strong experience with another AI coding assistant — Cursor, Copilot, etc. — and willing to learn Claude Code fast)
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern static site frameworks (Astro preferred; React/Next.js experience is a plus)
- Working knowledge of technical SEO: schema markup, page speed (Core Web Vitals), crawlability, internal linking, meta optimisation
- Comfort with Git, command-line / terminal basics, and API-based deployment
- Excellent written English (you'll be writing SEO content and page copy)
- Self-directed and able to work from terse instructions — we move fast and don't over-explain
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Netlify, Tailwind CSS v4, or OVH DNS
- Familiarity with local SEO (Google Business Profile, citations, location targeting)
- Experience in the solar / renewables or home-improvement niche
- Tailwind + Astro combined project examples
How to Apply
Send a short message telling us one website you've built with AI assistance and what the AI did vs. what you did. Include links to 2–3 live sites you've built or worked on (Astro or static sites preferred). Answer this: "A React single-page-app site ranks badly because Google sees an empty HTML shell. What's your fix?" — a short, practical answer is fine. Put the word "DONS-DEV" at the top of your application so we know you read the full post. We review applications that follow all four steps first.
