We are looking for a confident, commercially minded Field Sales Executive to join an established food business supplying products into the hospitality and on-trade market. This is a genuine field-based sales role. You will spend the majority of your working week out on the road, visiting customers and prospective customers across your territory, building relationships and growing sales. Your customers will include pubs, bars, clubs, hospitality venues and other independent businesses across South East London and the surrounding area.

This would suit someone with experience in FMCG, food and drink, beverages, snacks, confectionery, convenience, wholesale or on-trade sales, although we are also interested in strong field salespeople from other industries who are used to managing a geographical territory and meeting customers face-to-face.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing your own geographical sales territory
  • Spending your working week out in the field visiting customers
  • Developing relationships with existing accounts
  • Identifying and winning new customers across the territory
  • Visiting pubs, bars, clubs and other hospitality businesses
  • Introducing customers to the product range and identifying opportunities to increase sales
  • Building relationships with owners, managers and key decision-makers
  • Planning your own appointments, routes and daily customer visits
  • Following up leads and prospecting for new business
  • Maintaining regular contact with customers to increase repeat business
  • Working towards individual sales and new-business targets
  • Keeping accurate records of customer activity and opportunities

What we’re looking for:

Ideally, you will already have experience in a role such as: Field Sales Executive, Field Sales Representative, Territory Manager, Territory Sales Executive, Area Sales Manager, Retail Development Manager, Customer Development Executive, Trade Development Manager or similar. Experience within FMCG, food, beverages, snacks, confectionery, convenience retail, wholesale or the on-trade would be particularly useful.

More importantly, you should be:

  • Comfortable spending the majority of your week out on the road
  • Confident approaching and speaking with new customers face-to-face
  • Comfortable generating new business rather than purely managing existing accounts
  • Able to build strong relationships with independent business owners and managers
  • Commercially aware and comfortable discussing products, pricing and opportunities
  • Organised enough to plan and manage your own territory effectively
  • Target driven and motivated by winning new business
  • Personable, resilient and comfortable working independently

A full UK driving licence is essential for this position. If you currently work for a field sales agency or an FMCG, food, drink or consumer-goods business and spend your days visiting customers across a territory, we would be particularly interested in speaking with you. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being out meeting customers rather than sitting behind a desk, and who wants ownership of their own territory and the opportunity to directly influence its growth.
