My client, a leading Heavy Haulage Transport company, requires a Transport Planner to support the Transport Manager with the routing and planning of a diverse Heavy Haulage fleet. You will provide exceptional customer service by collaborating with Project Managers to ensure Heavy Haulage Transport provisions are meticulously planned, oversee the submission of complex route notifications ahead of vehicle movements, and ensure alignment with local authorities and structural owners to determine safe and viable routes.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure Heavy Haulage Transport solutions are planned efficiently within a project's scope of work.
- Planning and execution of Heavy Haulage transport for rail-based customers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all Heavy Haulage and Escort drivers, providing support and resolving any challenges encountered during operations.
- Support the Senior Transport Planner to plan a cost-effective Heavy Haulage Transport Fleet.
- Prepare & Submit STGO Category 3 route notifications, monitor responses and engage with local authorities and structural owners to identify a safe and cost-effective route.
- Direct liaison with Police forces to ensure abnormal loads escorts are planned in the most cost-effective manner.
- Support communication between multiple business departments to enhance complex Heavy Haulage vehicle movements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Company's existing rail customers to ensure the effective planning and execution of all rail movements.
- Liaise with customers to reschedule work to ensure the fleet is operating at capacity.
- To brief drivers in an accurate manner ensuring they have a comprehensive understanding of the requirements for their planned work.
- Co-ordinate with vehicle workshops to ensure all trucks and trailers are made available for routine maintenance.
- Provide out of hours support to the Heavy Haulage drivers & Escort drivers for live projects on a rota'd basis.
- Management of driver holidays to ensure continuity of the driver fleet.
- Respond quickly to customers' emails and phone calls.
- Ensure drivers and second men are scheduled for training sessions.
- To ensure all jobs are accurately entered into the Transport Management System.
- Support the Health & Safety of colleagues across the business.
- Provide regular feedback to operational managers to support enhancements of process, procedure or performance across the department.
- Support the implementation of business initiatives and strategy through the transport fleet.
Key Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to plan and schedule a multi-vehicle fleet.
- Experience submitting abnormal load route notifications.
- Proficient in IT systems.
- OLAT Trained or Transport Managers CPC.
- GCSEs or equivalent in Maths & English.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with STGO Regulations.
- Understanding of Technical drawings.
- Previous experience working with Transport Planning Software.
