About the Opportunity

Sentinel is partnering with a specialist engineering and construction consultancy to recruit into their growing strategic advisory team in London. The firm advises NHS trusts, research universities and private life sciences occupiers on estate strategy (business cases, development frameworks, strategic planning) at the more complex end of the market. Unlike generalist firms, they bring both built-environment rigour and deep sector knowledge to every commission, which is why they retain strong long-term client relationships across public and private sectors. Following a period of sustained growth, they are now looking to strengthen their strategic advisory team with a hire across their London, Cambridge, or Oxford offices.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage trusted client relationships, acting as a key account holder and embedding within client teams where required
  • Lead the development and delivery of estate strategies, development control plans and business cases from end to end
  • Work alongside multidisciplinary teams β€” including scientific, regulatory and property professionals β€” to develop integrated solutions aligned to client objectives
  • Apply analytical thinking, scenario testing and research to identify strategic options and shape robust, evidence-based recommendations
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, write proposals, respond to tenders and manage the financial performance of accounts against agreed targets
  • Produce and present high-quality reports, papers and workshop materials to senior stakeholder and board level
  • Contribute to thought leadership and support the continuous improvement of methodologies and best practice
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members, supporting their development and the growth of the wider practice

Required Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience delivering consultancy or strategic planning services in life sciences, health, estates or research environments
  • End-to-end experience of the business case process and estate strategy development in a client-facing context
  • Proven business development experience, including bid writing, tender management and pipeline building
  • Strong financial management and commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets and income targets
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to present and chair at executive board level
  • Experience of risk and change management within estates or technical environments
  • A chartership-level qualification in a built environment discipline (architecture, engineering, property or FM); a project management qualification is also desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365; skills in PowerPoint, InDesign or Illustrator are advantageous
