About the Role

We are partnering with a leading facilities management organisation to appoint a Reliability Manager who will support a diverse portfolio of client sites across the UK. The successful candidate will work across critical environments such as life sciences, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing, where uptime is critical and equipment failure is not an option.

This is not a site-based role. You will work across the entire division (a portfolio of 40+ client accounts) acting as the reliability and condition monitoring expert, driving a shift from reactive to predictive maintenance and translating technical insight into tangible business outcomes for clients and the business alike.

It's a rare opportunity for a technically strong reliability professional to step out of a single-site environment and operate at genuine divisional scale, with the autonomy to manage your own diary and the variety that comes with working across multiple sectors and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Condition Monitoring & Field Work
    • Carry out condition monitoring visits across client sites nationally, primarily using vibration analysis on rotating assets
    • Produce clear, analytical reports with findings, identified abnormalities, and actionable recommendations
    • Apply a range of condition monitoring techniques including vibration analysis, laser shaft alignment, ultrasonic monitoring, and thermography
    • Support asset verification and tagging on new contract mobilisations - assessing asset condition and remaining useful life
  • Reliability Strategy & Analysis
    • Lead and drive reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) practices across the divisional portfolio
    • Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA/FMECA), fault tree analysis, and root cause analysis on asset failures
    • Identify bad actors, repeat failures, and single points of failure - developing structured improvement plans
    • Optimise planned maintenance schedules through PMO (Planned Maintenance Optimisation) to improve effectiveness and reduce waste
    • Use CMMS/CAFM platforms to analyse work order data, asset performance, and maintenance trends
    • Apply Lean methodologies (Six Sigma, Kaizen, Pareto analysis) to drive continuous improvement across client sites
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build and maintain strong working relationships with client stakeholders, presenting findings and recommendations clearly and credibly
    • Identify opportunities where asset condition creates a business case for investment, replacement, or project works
    • Support budget holders with forecasting, cost reduction programmes, and capital planning
    • Coach and guide maintenance teams and client stakeholders in reliability best practice and technology solutions
    • Support new contract commissioning and mobilisations, embedding precision maintenance practices from day one

Required Skills/Experience:

  • A solid background in a technical reliability, asset engineering, or maintenance management
  • Hands-on experience with condition monitoring techniques, particularly vibration analysis
  • Working knowledge of reliability methodologies: RCM, FMEA, RCA, fault tree analysis
  • Experience in manufacturing, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated/critical environments
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable working with data, identifying trends, and producing well-structured reports
  • Confidence presenting findings and recommendations to clients or senior stakeholders
  • Familiarity with CMMS or CAFM platforms for asset and maintenance management
  • An independent/autonomous mindset; able to manage your own workload and travel schedule with minimal supervision
