About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a

Weekend Community Meals Catering Assistant to join our team in South Gloucestershire.

As a Weekend Community Meals Catering Assistant, you will help prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for elderly and vulnerable members of the community who may be unable to cook for themselves.

This rewarding role plays an important part in supporting the local community and making a positive difference to the lives of those most in need.

Working alongside the Cook, you will assist in preparing, packing, and maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene while ensuring meals are ready for timely collection and delivery.

Pay rate: £12.71 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Cook in preparing and cooking a variety of hot and cold meals and snacks for lunch and dinner services.
  • Assist with the preparation, packing, and labelling of meals in accordance with delivery schedules and meal allocation lists.
  • Ensure meals are prepared and ready for collection and distribution on time.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and kitchen hygiene at all times.
  • Carry out scheduled cleaning duties and ensure all food preparation areas remain clean and organized.
  • Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and operational procedures.
  • Work efficiently as part of a team to provide an excellent service to members of the local community.

Requirements

Successful applicants should have

  • A Basic or Standard DBS Check.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • The legal right to work in the UK.
  • A five-year checkable employment history, or documentary evidence covering any periods of unemployment, self-employment, or full-time or part-time education.
  • Flexibility to work across different sites and varying shift patterns, including weekends and bank holidays, when required.
  • Previous experience in food preparation, catering, hospitality, or a similar environment is desirable but not essential.
  • A positive attitude, reliability, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
