Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)
Shift: Rotating Days shift
Hours: 8am-4:30pm / 8:30am-5pm / 9:30am-6pm Occasional Saturdays
The Specialty Pharmacy Tech performs the technician responsibilities in specialized areas of pharmacy practice under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
- Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area.
- Demonstrates the ability to competently work independently in defined specialized areas of pharmacy practice.
- Training in advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions.
- Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced specialist job positions.
- Participates in the training of new employees.
- Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner as required by specialty position.
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
- Triage and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
- Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
- Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
- Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice.
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Certification/Licensure: Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required), CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Preferred)
Experience: 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)
