Hours: Full Time (36 hr/week) Role Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides competent nursing care based on the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN adheres to standards of practice and professional performance, demonstrating clinical knowledge and skills specific to the clinical area. Unit Details: 9 Kaufman is a 24-bed stepdown intermediate care unit specializing in vascular surgery, telemetry, and renal/pancreas transplant patients. It is part of the Surgical Specialty Team at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The staffing includes RNs, LPNs, NCPs, UAs, and CSAs. Patient Care: The unit handles various vascular surgeries and transplant cases, with all beds monitored. Nurses are trained to sit for the PCCN certification, which the hospital supports. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4. Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Nursing (required) Bachelor\’s or Master\’s in Nursing (preferred) Active RN license (required) BLS certification within 90 days of hire Experience: Open to new graduates and experienced nurses transitioning into this specialty Training: 11-week Transition to Practice program, culminating in a 6-month residency to support new nurses\’ transition.
