Overview:

Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is hiring full-time and part-time RNs in our Med/Surg – Hematology Unit.

Hematology Unit Overview:

This is a new state-of-the-art 24-bed unit caring for a variety of medical diagnoses including CHF, COPD, Sepsis, Pneumonia, Diabetes, Stroke, end-of-life, and chronic blood disorders like Sickle Cell. You will gain knowledge in procedures such as wound vacs, high-risk medication infusions, telemetry, trach care, chest tubes, and peritoneal dialysis.

  • Full-Time: 36 hours/week
  • Part-Time: 12 hours/week
  • Day Shift: 7am – 7pm
  • Night Shift: 7pm – 7am
  • Weekend Night Shift: 7pm – 7am Fri-Sun

The RN is responsible for providing competent nursing care following the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, along with professional standards such as ethics, communication, collaboration, and evidence-based practice.

Education

  • Registered Nurse Diploma (Required)
  • BSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

  • Valid RN License (Required)
  • BLS (Required)

Nurse Residency and Transition Programs:

Sentara offers a 6-month Nurse Residency program for new grads and a Transition to Practice program for nurses with less than 12 months of experience, including orientation, clinical training, mentoring, and professional development.
