Sentara is currently hiring a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. This is a Flexi position with rotating shift hours located in Norfolk, VA.

Performs and analyzes all diagnostic Nuclear Medicine Procedures in an ambulatory setting. Ensures compliance with all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by all state, federal, and local agencies. Provides the best patient care and practices radiation safety standards at all times.

Conducts general Nuclear Medicine imaging of patients within the scope of demonstrated competency under the direction of a qualified physician. Responsibilities include:

  • Positioning patients for correct anatomy/pathology demonstration
  • Preparation, dose management, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals
  • Operation of radiation-producing equipment
  • Operation of electronic radiology systems
  • Preparation of patient rooms/equipment
  • Patient and family education
  • Maintaining supply inventory

Explains examination procedures and discharge instructions to patients and completes departmental documentation. Ensures compliance with radioactive activity monitoring and documentation. Performs all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by relevant agencies. Intravenous (IV) competency is required.

Education: Trade school certificate in radiologic sciences, BLD Nuclear Medicine Certification/Licensure, ARRT required (CNMT).

Experience: No experience required; new graduates are welcome.
