Job Overview: An engineering company specializing in air measurement and ducting testing is seeking a skilled TIG welder for long-term stability and varied project work to join our production team. Reporting to the Production Manager, the technician will work closely with the production team to ensure high-quality finished products are completed in a timely fashion for customer delivery. The role involves welding stainless steel assemblies of diameters down to 4 mm and wall thicknesses down to 0.7 mm. This is a full-time position (part-time could be considered for an exceptional candidate).
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Proven experience with TIG Welding especially with precision stainless steel assemblies.
- Background in an engineering or fabrication environment.
- Knowledge and experience of turning, milling and drilling of components for fabrication.
- Competent understanding of manufacturing processes and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Setting up and operating fabrication workshop machinery – Guillotines, Presses, Folders.
- Willingness to learn new processes and products.
- Good timekeeping and an organised approach to tasks.
- Flexible attitude with the ability to multitask.
- A proactive team player, with good English communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
- Knowledge of TQM, checking and quality inspection of own work.
- Fit and ideally able to lift to 25kg alone.
Other Advantageous Skills / Qualifications:
- BTEC Level 3/HNC Engineering would be of benefit or a technical qualification in Welding over and above C&G L2.
- A reliable, self‑motivated individual who takes pride in their work.
- Someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
- Knowledge in brazing (silver soldering) would be advantageous.
- Troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with ability to design own jigs/fixtures to aid process improvement.
- Proficient with basic PC software to complete route cards in our MRP system with minimal training.
- Previously worked in an ISO 9001, (and ISO 45001/ ISO 14001) company.
- Driving License (access to vehicle to aid commute to factory location).
Matched Pension of 5% after completing of probationary period. Flexible start times after completing of probationary period. Discretionary quarterly bonus based on invoiced delivery targets. Applicant must be eligible to work in the UK without restriction.
