Your next role

We’re looking for an experienced Fire Sprinkler Service & Maintenance Manager to lead our commercial service division as a self‑contained operational unit. Reporting to the Head of Service, you’ll hold end‑to‑end accountability for divisional performance – including service delivery, engineer productivity, client outcomes, compliance, health & safety, and commercial results. This role suits someone who thrives on balancing technical authority, operational leadership, and commercial discipline, while shaping a high‑performing, safety‑led engineering team.

What you will be doing

  • Service Delivery & Divisional Performance - Owning day‑to‑day performance of the sprinkler service division, delivering against agreed KPIs, SLAs, budgets and growth targets.
  • Planning and controlling inspections, testing, maintenance and repairs in line with LPS 1048, TB203 Rules, and GN12 service and maintenance requirements.
  • Monitoring and improving engineer productivity, utilisation, first‑time fix rates, backlog and WIP.
  • Reporting weekly on service performance, risks, financial position and improvement actions.
  • Engineer Leadership, Welfare & Capability - Providing full line management for service engineers, including performance management, coaching and development.
  • Taking responsibility for engineer welfare, wellbeing and engagement, fostering a professional and accountable culture.
  • Identifying training and competency needs to ensure engineers remain compliant, capable and commercially effective.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance Ownership - Acting as the operational owner for Health & Safety within the division.
  • Ensuring robust use of RAMS, safe systems of work, toolbox talks and behavioural safety expectations.
  • Leading and supporting internal and external audits, including LPCB (BRE) audits, H&S audits and ISO 9001:2015.
  • Maintaining full compliance with relevant sprinkler standards, certification requirements and client governance.
  • Client Ownership & Account Management - Serving as the senior point of accountability for service clients, owning relationship health, retention and escalations.
  • Providing authoritative technical and compliance advice to strengthen client confidence.
  • Supporting identification and development of new service and maintenance opportunities.
  • Owning PPM remedial identification, quotation and conversion, ensuring inspection quality supports compliant remedial scopes.
  • Driving remedial conversion ratios, average remedial value and gross margin.
  • Preparing, reviewing and approving service estimates, proposals and variations.
  • Managing subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost control, compliance and service quality.
  • Leading continuous improvement across service delivery, reporting quality, engineering capability and customer experience.
  • Contributing to wider business objectives and supporting new commercial initiatives.

Who we are looking for

You’ll be a confident, credible leader with strong technical grounding in commercial fire sprinkler systems and a proven track record in service and maintenance operations. You’ll bring:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in the fire sprinkler industry, with strong service and maintenance background.
  • Experience leading engineering teams with accountability for performance, productivity and safety.
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial sprinkler systems and maintenance regimes.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness, including managing costs, margins and service performance.
  • Confidence managing clients, handling escalations and developing additional service opportunities.
  • A clear, accountable leadership style with the ability to coach, challenge and support engineers.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Knowledge of LPS 1048, TB203, and GN12.
  • ABBE Level 3 Award or LPCB Certification (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Familiarity with LPCB/BRE certification processes and audit requirements.
  • Electrical fire alarm knowledge.
