We are looking for a skilled and motivated Tech Spec Engineering Team Leader to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting, training and developing the Service Engineering Team, whilst retaining the Technical Specialty. Your expertise will help ensure all fire safety systems are compliant, reliable, and optimised, making a real difference to the safety and confidence of the people and businesses we serve.

What you will be doing:

  • Carry out any minor remedial/fault rectification works necessary during any PPM visit, supported by a separate call number and work sheet, and in conjunction with a written instruction/order from the client.
  • Carry out engineer audits on a monthly basis and report back to the service supervisor with your findings, i.e. checking logbooks are filled out correctly, engineer worksheets are clear, detailed and concise.
  • Assist colleagues when required with technical issues, either by telephone support or site attendance.
  • Lead by example and be a role model for the engineering team. Provide support, technical knowledge and coaching when required.
  • Set the standard for other engineers, showing them why they should aspire to be senior technical engineers, imparting your knowledge, showing them worksheet presentation, the required detail and how they should present themselves.
  • Assist in the development of trainees, mentoring them in the Senseco working/best practice methods and report good progress or any areas of concern to your Service Supervisor.
  • Develop and maintain effective Client relationships and assist in gaining future work by relaying leads and survey information to the sales team.
  • Comply with policies relating to Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Technical Compliance issues that affect the customer and employees.
  • Ensure all relevant engineering practices are adhered to - report any inconsistencies to a senior engineer or your service supervisor.
  • Attend and prepare for engineers meetings when required.
  • Attend training courses to extend knowledge and skillset of various manufacturers' products.

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking someone with a strong technical foundation and a customer-first mindset. Ideally, you will bring:

  • Excellent servicing, diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with the ability to resolve by elimination or technical recommendations.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience on a broader and higher technical range of equipment such as Simplex, EST, Siemens to include software configuration and programming.
  • Fire: Edwards EST3 / Siemens Cerberus Pro / Notifier / GENT
  • VA/PA & EVACS: Baldwin Boxall / Honeywell / TOA / Cameo / Siemens
  • Suppression Systems: Inert / FM200 / Water Mist / RIT
  • Security Systems: IP Networks / CCTV / Access Control
  • All-round engineering background supported by recognised qualifications, and demonstrable experience (at least 2 years) at a technical level within the industry.
  • Computer Literate, good general IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
