Sense are looking for Support Workers within our Day Service located in Barnet London, working 32.5 hours per week, offering you £14.08 per hour. There is also potential to work outside of these hours in another service.
Touch Base South East is a purpose built center which is the base for a huge variety of social activities and education based sessions, it is located within the heart of the local community and is a short walk from the local high street and its public transport network. Sessions at the centre are tailor-made to suit individual or group needs. You can find out more about it in the video above.
Touch Base South East is a very active service supporting around 50 individuals. Our focus is around having lots of fun and celebrating everyone through the many activities we run every day. We\’re looking for Support Workers who are willing to get involved and enjoy working in a fast-paced and fun environment and be passionate and committed to what Sense does.
You could be supporting somebody out on a day trip one day and in the hydrotherapy pool the next. Other activities on offer to the people we support in Barnet include IT, basic literacy and numeracy, gardening, cooking, music activities, communication practice, work placements in local businesses, art activities, sensory environments and to access facilities in the local community.
We’re looking for enthusiastic applicants who have:
- Positive, with a can-do attitude.
- Caring and empathetic.
- Passionate about enhancing other people’s lives.
- A full manual UK license is beneficial to assist with community trips.
- Knowledge of or qualification in British Sign Language or similar is beneficial ( BSL / Makaton etc.).
- Willing to attend training as needed to support you in your role.
No two days will be the same
Here at Sense, we support people with complex disabilities to live the life they choose. Your priority will be empowering the people you support to live an independent life.
We have a fantastic Day Centre that includes the following:
- Fully heated indoor swimming pool
- Gym with sprung flooring, used for dance sessions, trampoline sessions and many sensory sports activities
- Training kitchen where people we support can learn to cook
- Multi-sensory room
- Art room with pottery wheels and sewing, arts and crafts
- Café 55 where people we support get to eat a hot cooked lunch along with their staff member.
- Outdoor sensory garden with gazebos in the summer to relax under
- A local allotment nearby where we support people to grow organic vegetables
- A music suite where we have instruments and recording equipment
This role in Barnet London might include:
