Sense is looking for Support Workers to join our service in Exeter, working 37.5 hours per week for £12.25 per hour (inclusive of allowances).

This is a challenging role, but incredibly rewarding. You will be part of an award-winning team, providing outstanding care and support. We will support you both personally and professionally to develop the skills, knowledge, and experience to support individuals who have learning disabilities, sensory impairments, communication difficulties, and behaviours that challenge.

The individuals we support are unique in their needs, wants, and wishes, and you will have fun supporting them in their various interests, from sports activities and events, musicals, operas, festivals, celebrating special events, and connecting with the local and wider community.

This role operates on a rolling 4-week rota, with day and afternoon shifts that include every other weekend.

We’re looking for enthusiastic applicants who are:

  • Positive, with a can-do attitude.

  • Passionate about enhancing other people’s lives.
  • Willing to work towards a Level 2 Diploma in health and social care or equivalent (or already have one).
  • Have some experience with adults with learning disabilities, deafblindness, and behaviours that challenge.
  • May have some BSL skills.

A full UK Driver\’s License is desirable for this role.

No two days will be the same

In addition to the support you will receive from the management team, we have a \’Buddy Scheme\’ where we will match a team member to you, so you will also have peer support whilst you get to know the individuals, team, and service. You will also have access to training and professional qualifications to underpin your practice and development.

This role in Exeter might include supporting people with:

  • Everyday tasks like cooking and cleaning.
  • Personal care and hygiene.
  • Finances.
  • Medication and wellbeing.
  • Working.
  • Going into the community for shopping or other trips.
  • Their social life and nightlife.
