Could you help a child discover what they're truly capable of? Here at Sense, we support people with complex disabilities to live the life they choose. We currently have opportunities for Children's Services Assistants to join our teams in Northern Ireland, with permanent and casual hours available across two locations.
- Sense Jordanstown School, County Antrim - Permanent: A permanent, part time role working 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 3pm to 5pm, paid at 13.00 per hour. A Level 2 or 3 Childcare qualification (or equivalent) is essential.
- Sense Jordanstown School, County Antrim - Casual: A casual, relief role with flexible hours to suit you, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, paid at 13.00 per hour. A minimum Level 2 Childcare qualification (or equivalent) is essential.
- Sense Hub Belfast - Permanent: A permanent, part time role working 10 hours per week, afternoons only, within our Monday to Friday 1.45pm to 5.15pm operating hours, paid at 13.00 per hour. A minimum Level 2 Childcare qualification (or equivalent) and a minimum of 6 months' experience working with children are essential.
- Sense Hub Belfast - Casual: A casual role, working afternoons only, Monday to Friday between 1.45pm and 5.15pm, paid at 13.00 per hour, with flexible hours to suit you. A minimum Level 2 Childcare qualification (or equivalent) and a minimum of 6 months' experience working with children are essential.
In all four roles, you'll be part of a dedicated team working across our Children's Nursery and After School Club, supporting children with complex disabilities and complex needs. No two days are the same. One moment you might be helping a child learn a new skill, the next supporting them to connect with others in the way that works best for them. It's a role where your presence genuinely matters.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Warm, patient, and genuinely passionate about working with children
- Positive and caring, with a can-do attitude
- Committed to empowering children to live full, fulfilling lives
- Experienced in a childcare setting, particularly with children with disabilities (desirable)
- Able to use British Sign Language, or keen to learn, with training and support provided (desirable)
- Willing to attend training and develop in the role
This role might include supporting children with:
- Learning new skills and building confidence
- Personal care and hygiene
- Making sense of their environment and accessing their community
- Medication and wellbeing
- Communication in the way that works best for them
- Their social life and behaviour
