Could you be a SEND Tutor at Sense College? We have an exciting opportunity to join the team as Special Education Needs and Disability Tutors at our College Centre based in Aldeby. This is a permanent, full-time vacancy working 22.5 hours, three days per week, 41 weeks of the year (term time). The successful applicants will support young people with special education needs as they prepare for adulthood.
You will be part of a dedicated team of professionals assessing needs and writing person-centred education programmes. You will support students in the classroom and out in the wider community. Improving the communication skills and independence of students is at the core of our curriculum.

Key responsibilities:
- To carry out initial and ongoing assessment of students
- To design and monitor Individual Learning Plans
- To deliver effective teaching that delivers high outcomes for students
- To produce written reports as required for each student
- To adopt and use appropriate communication methods for individual students
- To act as Mentor for nominated students and to liaise with their parents, carers or designated support workers on a regular basis
Your required skills and experiences:
- Higher level teaching qualification e.g. Certificate in Education or Post Graduate Certificate Education (PGCE)
- Level 5 Diploma English and Maths Level 2
- Have an understanding of the needs of young people with a range of special education needs
- Ability to use assessment to plan and review learning
- Model professional and positive behaviour for staff and students
- Communicates effectively, inter-personally and in writing
