TouchBase Dunbartonshire is a vibrant hub where individuals engage in activities ranging from arts and music to physical and social pursuits. Our goal is to foster personal growth, community involvement, and individual independence. As a Driver/Escort, you will be an essential part of this mission by ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of individuals to and from the centre and other locations in the community. Key Responsibilities
- Safe Transport: Drive and accompany individuals to and from TouchBase Dunbartonshire and community activities, tailoring support to their specific needs during travel.
- Support in Activities: Assist individuals during local outings and activities as part of their day-to-day experiences at the centre.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine vehicle checks, report defects, and ensure vehicles are clean, tidy, and fuelled daily.
- Mileage Records: Maintain accurate mileage and fuel purchase records, submitting monthly logs to the Administration team.
- Communication: Build positive relationships with parents and support practitioners, sharing relevant information with managers.
- Facilitate the receipt and return of medications in line with organisational policy.
- Building Checks: Carry out building checks upon return from afternoon transport.
Shift Pattern
This is a part-time Driver role offering 15 hours per week, with a consistent schedule:
- Monday 8 AM - ***** AM
- Tuesday 8 AM - ***** AM
- Wednesday Day Off
- Thursday 8 AM - ***** AM / 2.30 PM - 5 PM
- Friday 8 AM - ***** AM / 2.30 PM - 5 PM
About you
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual with a strong sense of responsibility and a desire to make a difference in the lives of young people and adults with learning disabilities or visual impairments. The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a valid D1 category licence and a full, clean driving licence.
- Be confident and competent in driving various vehicles.
- Be prepared to work on a flexible rota basis to meet the needs of the service.
- Possess excellent time management skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Have a solid understanding of the needs of individuals with disabilities and how to support them effectively.
You must also:
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with people we support, parents, and colleagues.
- Have a good understanding of safe routes, using satellite navigation systems when needed.
- Be meticulous in maintaining clear and accurate mileage records and handling receipts.
- Pay close attention to detail to ensure vehicles are clean, presentable, and meet safety standards at all times.
