Join Our Lanarkshire Supported Living Services Relief Team!

We're expanding our relief pool and looking for compassionate, motivated people to join our team across Lanarkshire. This is an ideal opportunity if you're looking for flexible work that fits around your lifestyle. Whether you're a student, parent, semi-retired, or simply seeking a better work-life balance, our zero-hour Relief Support Worker role allows you to choose when you work while making a real difference in people's lives.

At Sense Scotland, every shift matters, and every hour of support helps create brighter futures.

What Is a Relief Support Worker?

Relief Support Workers provide a highly valued source of support across our services, helping to cover both planned and unplanned absences. As part of our relief pool, you'll play an important role in supporting people with complex needs to live independently in their own homes and stay connected to their communities.

At Sense Scotland, we work in partnership with the people we support, enabling them to live the lives they choose while developing confidence, skills and independence. We are passionate about enhancing wellbeing, quality of life and day-to-day living skills, supporting people to take part in learning opportunities, hobbies, leisure activities and maintaining important social connections.

Flexibility That Works for You

One of the benefits of joining our relief team is flexibility. You can share your availability and preferences in advance, allowing managers to match shifts to your skills, strengths and interests. You can also let us know if you're available at short notice. Whatever your availability, your contribution makes a meaningful difference.

About the Service

We are currently recruiting for Relief Support Workers to join our Supported Living Services across Blantyre, Airdrie, Motherwell and Rutherglen.

Our services provide an engaging and rewarding environment where no two days are the same. You'll be part of a dedicated team delivering exceptional, person-centred support to individuals who are primarily deafblind and have a range of complex support needs. Some of the people we support do not communicate verbally, so creativity, patience and understanding are essential.

At the heart of our work is value-based communication, tailoring our approach to each person's unique needs, abilities and preferences. Our teams empower people to lead meaningful, independent lives filled with choice, confidence and opportunity.

The people we support have a variety of health conditions and support needs, including epilepsy, deafblindness and mobility challenges.

The Role

You'll help people live happy, purposeful lives and achieve their personal goals both at home and in the wider community. Building positive relationships is at the heart of the role, alongside providing support with:

  • Personal care
  • Medication support
  • Meal preparation
  • Housework and household tasks
  • Managing finances
  • Providing companionship and emotional support
  • Supporting people to attend activities, appointments and social events
  • Liaising with families and healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality, consistent support
  • Promoting independence and individuality in line with Support Plans
  • Recording daily information and maintaining accurate records
  • Working collaboratively as part of a supportive team

A Bit About the People You'll Support

The people we support enjoy active and fulfilling lives. They love getting out and about, whether that's going for local walks, shopping trips, cinema visits or attending weekly discos with friends.

Holidays, day trips and spending quality time with family and friends are important to them, and they enjoy planning activities that bring fun, laughter and new experiences into everyday life. You'll play a key role in helping them continue to do the things they love and achieve the goals that matter most to them.

What's the Shift Pattern?

Our services provide support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Typical shifts include:

  • Early Shift: 7.30am – 3.00pm
  • Late Shift: 2.30pm – 10.00pm

About You

At Sense Scotland, what's most important is that you have a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of people with additional support needs.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Caring, kind and enthusiastic
  • A positive team player with a can-do attitude
  • Able to communicate effectively and use their own initiative
  • Organised and able to support established routines
  • Comfortable prioritising tasks and managing workloads
  • Patient, understanding and dependable
  • Eager to learn and develop
  • Passionate about supporting others to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives

Whether you already have experience in health and social care and are looking for greater flexibility, or you're considering a rewarding new career in care, we'd love to hear from you.

Join our Lanarkshire Relief Team and help create brighter futures, one shift at a time.
