Education Mentor – SENse Learning
We offer a unique opportunity for passionate mentors to support young people with complex additional needs in homes, schools and the community.
Roles include Education Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant and Learning Support Mentor.
The Role
As an Education Mentor you will provide one-to-one mentoring and learning support across a range of specialisms.
You will work in students’ homes and the community, delivering creative, interest-based activities and supporting the development of confidence, independence and life skills.
Use trauma-informed, flexible approaches and model emotional regulation.
Provide progress feedback and adapt support accordingly.
Responsibilities
- Develop strong, positive relationships with children and young people who have faced challenges in previous education settings.
- Provide one-to-one support in homes and community settings.
- Support the development of life skills, confidence and independence.
- Use trauma-informed approaches and flexible strategies for a wide range of additional needs.
- Understand emotional regulation and model and encourage strategies.
- Provide feedback and reflections to track progress and adapt support.
Requirements
- At least 2 years experience working with children or young people with complex additional needs (ASC, ADHD, SEMH, EBSA, trauma, PDA, mental health).
- Background in roles such as Support Workers, Learning Support Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Youth Workers, Personal Assistants or similar.
- Understanding of child-centred, holistic approach and creativity to tailor curriculum.
- Enhanced DBS and 2+ professional references.
- UK resident with right to work; remote roles possible.
- Knowledge of safeguarding.
