Our SEND Tutor roles allow you to provide one-to-one support for the most in-need young people, working across specialisms as a Specialist Teacher, Intervention Tutor, and SEND Teacher!

Set within the students' homes and out in the community, our learning packages meet the needs of the individual students, enabling them to succeed and learn via a trauma-informed approach.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 2 years of post-NQT teaching experience, ideally working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD in a holistic and trauma-informed way
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
  • Approach: Understanding of how to work in a child-centred, holistic way; you will have the ingenuity and creativity to make the curriculum work in an individual, student-centred way.
  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can facilitate this if needed) and 2 professional references
  • Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote/online jobs
  • Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment.

The SEND Tutor role and responsibilities:

  • Develop strong relationships with children and young people who have a range of needs and who have often experienced significant difficulties in previous education settings.
  • Provide in person, online/remote, and hybrid support to children, teenagers, and young people with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other Additional Educational Needs.
  • Support pupils and students, ranging from KS1 - KS5 (as appropriate for your skills), referred by local authorities and schools by planning and delivering flexible, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring tailored to the young person's needs, EHCP, and risk assessment.
  • Plan and report for lessons and provide regular feedback on student progress.

Relevant Job Titles / Previous Experience: Individuals with highly relevant experience from teaching background often have worked in the following roles: SENDCo (Special Education Needs Coordinator), SLD/MLD Teacher, Autism/ADHD Support Teacher, Intervention Specialist/Teacher/Tutor, Ex-Teacher. Other highly relevant roles from therapeutic and learning support background include Learning Support Assistant (LSA)/Teaching Assistant (TA), Educational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist (SALT), Educational Psychologist (EP), Inclusion Coordinator.
