We’re looking for a Shop Manager to join our team at our Sense shop in Shirley, Solihull.

This is a permanent role, working 30 hours per week across four days, with a salary of £13.20 per hour. You'll work 7.5-hour shifts across Monday to Sunday, so full flexibility across the week is required.

As Shop Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the shop, leading your team to maximise sales, control costs and generate vital income for Sense. You'll create a welcoming environment for customers while ensuring excellent standards across everything from customer service and merchandising to stock generation and shop presentation.

A big part of your role will be building, developing and motivating a brilliant team of staff and volunteers. You'll create a positive working environment where everyone feels supported to contribute and provide an excellent experience for our customers.

You'll also play an active role within the local community, promoting Sense and finding new opportunities to generate donated stock, recruit volunteers and support fundraising.

Some key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing your team of staff and volunteers
  • Maximising sales and managing costs to help achieve the shop's targets
  • Delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high shop standards
  • Creating attractive displays and ensuring the shop is clean, organised and welcoming
  • Driving stock generation and building relationships within the local community
  • Ensuring stock is priced, rotated and managed effectively
  • Managing shop administration, cash handling and security procedures
  • Maintaining a safe environment for customers, staff and volunteers
  • Supporting the wider retail team and providing cover at other shops when required

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who can bring energy, organisation and strong people skills to the role. You'll be comfortable taking ownership of the shop while creating an environment where your team can thrive.

You'll need:

  • Experience of recruiting, managing and motivating a team
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Confidence working with numbers and completing administrative tasks
  • An interest in and awareness of fashion trends
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with the public
  • The ability to motivate yourself and others
  • The ability to handle confidential information appropriately
