Could you provide calm and comfort through the night?

Here at Sense, we support people with complex disabilities to live the life they choose. We’re looking for Waking Night Support Workers to join our team at Newton Court in Paston, Peterborough. These are permanent roles with hours from 18 to 27 per week, working 10:00pm to 7:00am on a two-week rota including weekends and bank holidays, paying £13.00 per hour plus a 50p per hour waking night allowance.

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you’ll be awake and actively supporting throughout the night, making sure the people we support feel safe and comfortable until the morning team arrives. Nights here are mostly calm, but they’re never passive. You’ll be checking in, offering reassurance and quietly keeping everything running so that mornings start well.

Full training is provided, so you don’t need previous experience. What matters most is the right values and a genuine wish to make a difference. A BSL Level 2 qualification is desirable but not essential.

Please note: this post is restricted to female applicants. This is a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Comfortable supporting people with mobility needs including walking, guiding, and wheelchair use
  • Able to work independently and use good judgement
  • Warm, calm, and reassuring throughout the night
  • Willing to attend training and develop in their role

This role might include supporting people with:

  • Personal care and hygiene
  • Medication and wellbeing
  • Providing reassurance and comfort overnight
  • Keeping accurate records and handover notes for the morning team

Benefits:

  • 24 days’ holiday + bank holidays; increasing with length of service
  • Free DBS Check
  • Free access to over 100 online and face to face training
  • On-going development opportunities
  • Flexible working and family friendly policies
  • Employee referral scheme
  • Health and well-being support
  • Pension Scheme
  • Discount scheme
  • Wisdom App- free access for all employees to mindfulness application
