Sense Education are working in partnership with a SEND Sixth Form, currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Post-16 Teaching Assistant to support learners aged 16-19 with special educational needs and disabilities. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about preparing young people for independent living, employability and adulthood through structured, practical support.

Within This Role, You Will:

  • Support students with SEND in life skills and functional learning sessions
  • Assist learners with daily living skills such as personal care, travel training and money management
  • Encourage confidence, self-advocacy and emotional regulation
  • Support students during work experience, vocational activities and community-based learning
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff and external professionals to implement EHCP outcomes
  • Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment tailored to individual needs

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Understands or is willing to learn about Autism, learning difficulties and complex needs
  • Is patient, compassionate and confident supporting young people with varying levels of independence
  • Can build positive, professional relationships with learners
