This inclusive and caring Specialist Unit in Kendal is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children in Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This role can either be part time or full time and is ideal for someone with a nurturing, patient nature and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

The Role
- Supporting the teacher throughout the school day, using a play-based, sensory approach to engage children in learning
- Use or willing to use communication strategies
- Working closely with the class teacher and other TA’s
- Deliver 1:1 or small group interventions
- Support pupils with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs where required
- Help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment
- Support with personal care routines
Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with young children in a school or nursery setting (school, tutoring, childcare or similar)
- A warm, patient and adaptable approach
- Ability to engage pupils through play, routine and structured learning
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Flexibility, reliability and a genuine passion for helping children learn
Qualifications & Skills
- A recognised childcare/care qualification or equivalent (NVQ, CACHE, Degree, or equivalent)
- A current DBS that is registered with the update service (if you don’t have an up-to-date DBS we can assist in applying for one)
- Knowledge or experience working with SEND
- Be reliable, punctual, trustworthy
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 3.30pm
- Term-time only
Location: Kendal
Role Type: Full Time / Part time / Temp – Perm
Pay Rate: £14.60 – £16.90 per hour
Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
