Are you looking for a rewarding career where every day you can help make a difference? We are currently looking for a Disability Support Worker to join a dedicated team at a Specialist school. You’ll be part of a supportive, nurturing environment helping pupils with Autism and complex needs reach their full potential. This is a rewarding role where you’ll build trusted relationships, help create engaging learning experiences, and support students’ emotional, social, and physical development.

School hours are 8.45am – 3.30pm. We are looking for people who have experience working with children and young adults with complex needs. You’ll play an essential role in supporting the teacher and children through the day. We are looking for talented individuals who share our commitment to providing high quality learning experiences for students of all ages and backgrounds. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with teachers and TA’s to support children throughout the day.
  • Supporting pupils with Autism, sensory or communication needs.
  • Working 1-1 or in small group settings.
  • Engaging in both classroom-based and outdoor learning experiences.
  • Creating a calm, positive learning environment tailored to each pupil’s needs.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting children with SEND.
  • Passionate about working with young children or adults with disabilities.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm (Term-Time only). Full-Time or Part-time. Competitive pay.

Location – Kendal. Role Type: Full time / Part time / Temp – Perm. Pay Rate: £14.60 – £16.90 per hour.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
