We are currently partnering with a large SEND school who are looking to recruit a 1-1 Teaching Assistant. We want you to join a fantastic school in Kendal who are offering a long-term, full-time role to start ASAP with a view for temp to perm. This role will be to support a pupil on a 1:1 basis with Special Educational Needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional help with learning.
  • Offer emotional and pastoral support to students to improve their confidence and self-esteem.
  • Help students with organisational skills, study techniques, and goal setting.
  • Support students with specific learning needs, including those with SEN (Special Educational Needs).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Work closely with teachers and parents to track and review student progress.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies to enhance student learning and well-being.

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting children with SEND.
  • Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities.

Location: Kendal

Role Type: Full time / Part time / Temp – Perm

Pay Rate: £14.60 – £16.90 per hour.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
