Are you passionate about fulfilling the responsibilities of a SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant Role with specialism in working with pupils with SEMH. The Ideal Candidate
- Experience and expertise in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, including strategies for self‑regulation and resilience.
- The ability to adapt provisions for pupils with SEND and EAL, ensuring inclusive and high‑quality learning experiences.
- Great communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Positive behaviour – helping the teacher manage the classroom and promoting a calm, positive environment.
- Teamwork: collaborating with teachers, Senco, to get the best outcomes for the children.
- Empathy and capacity to connect with pupils from varied backgrounds.
Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional learning needs.
- A calm, caring and flexible approach.
- An NVQ3 for Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification or experience.
- A passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (if you do not currently have one, we can assist in applying for one).
Working Hours
- 5 days a week, 8.30am – 3.30pm (term‑time only).
- Full‑time and part‑time applications welcome.
- Start date: ASAP.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
