We are currently looking for a Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant to start in September in a secondary school in the Whitehaven area. The position is to work within a progressive and inclusive SEND department. The staff are supportive and work well as a team.

The role is to support young people with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, Dyslexia and SEMH. You will be supporting them in the classroom and 1:1 sessions in the SEND department. The pupils will be working at KS3 and KS4 also foundation stage.

The ideal person for the role:

  • Will have experience of supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Will be a great communicator and team player to join a committed SEND team.
  • Have previous experience of supporting young people or adults with additional needs.
  • Committed to safeguarding and the well-being of young people.

The position is school hours 8:30 – 3:30; we will consider people part-time as well as full-time. Sense Education provides training and support for all our staff. Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in schools.
